Writing more - Working Less

Okay, maybe I should have titled this Working More, Writing Less...however, as many can tell, I've been away for far too long. With that said, I am working to get back in the swing of things. How is it that your career away from the writing realm takes over your daily life until you have no creative energy left?

Oh well, hoping to get something substantial soon!

Sometimes all it takes to bring two people together is a cat in need and a little holiday magic.

15,000 words in 2 days

You know when you sit down to the computer and the words just appear. I love those days, and then comes the inevitable Monday. The return to work, all the ideas screaming to be captured will have to wait while I waste my time in a drab gray space with few windows and he hum of computers...I love weekends and only wish that I could skip returning to the 'real job'.

Rain

Rain sounds on my roof
The splash of tires running through a flooded street
Windows open to the smell of wet
The cool breeze tinged with the promise of fall
Crickets chirp thier choir song
The day is young and it feels long
Flowers bloom their last bloom
The grass soaks up green
Autumn is on its way

My inspiration for this story came from some research I was doing about Alaska. Once I started reading up on the history of that era I was hooked. Here are some of the photos that brought to life the story which I am currently working on.

The place that caught my attention was the small town of Dawson in the Yukon. With its barely established roads and old buildings it was a boom town that attracted all manner of folks looking to become the next Gold tycoon.

NEED MOTIVATION

Ever been sitting there, knowing that you could be doing soo much more, feeling your fingers itch to write - to tear up the keys in a frenzied flurry of brilliant movement?

My fingers are currently tongue tied (if that's possible).

Anyone read Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day... some days you just can't get it right...I think I'll move to Australia.....

Where did Spring go?

I miss those few weeks in which I could sit out on my back patio watching the clouds roll by as ideas swirled around in my head. The grass in the pasture behind my house was over grown. That large black mare, I call her Lady, would lean over my fence and look at me as if to say, "Shouldn't you be working?" She'd resume her nibbling on grass and glance my way every now again to be sure I wrote something. The gentle breeze with a hint of rain would ruffle the pages on the glass table top before me. I move my cup to hold several lose peices down. I hear the bird who built her nest in my garden chirp and she reminds me to stop and smell the flowers all around.

Ah...where did spring go?

It was 92 outside today - screw sitting on the patio.

Rainy Day

Been away far too long, was enjoying this past week's weather and then BAM! Today is 40 degrees cooler than yesterday and rainy. Yuck...oh well, its a good day to sit at the computer and write. What will I write...tales of a gloomy forest with lurking shadows and fae mischeif...perhaps...bright stories of a sweet romance in the American west, budding and new...how about vibrant purple sands on a moonless planet lingering in the far distant galaxy beyond the Milky Way.

We'll see where this ends up, chances are I will be posting an excerpt soon of whatever new story comes to mind.

When I decided to write in the horror genre, I chose to limit myself to vampire stories, I wished to write something different. With that in mind, I turned my attention from les vampires of the Old World and concentrated on those in the New. It appears almost all cultures have stories of bloodsucking creatures of the night, being who for one reason or another have offended their deity and are accursed. So what was the Native Americans' spin on this legend? I decided to find out, concentrating on the native of Central America specifically the Maya.
Dark God Descending is the story of two men, seperated by thousands of years, thrown together by unbelievable circumstances; it is the story of their friendship and their love for the same woman, and what is involved in accepting event Fate has dealt them. It is available from Sams Dot Publishing at http://www.samsdotpublishing.com/purchasecenter/novels.htm
Be sure to check out this intrigueing story and read an excerpt!

There is no snow on the ground here in St. Louis, but it certainly is cold! I was listening to the radio today and heard the one Christmas song that I adore...you all know it, the John Lennon song, Happy Christmas (War Is Over).
Warmest wishes to you and your family in this holiday season!

What’s the best way to get a Sheriff’s Deputy’s attention? Speeding naked, of course. Danie has got her man right where she wants him, but the tables turn once cuffed.
EXCERPT:
Sirens filled the night air, and she slowed down. Danie pulled to the side of the road and hoped that Mike sat behind of the wheel of the squad car that pulled her over.
If he wasn’t, she’d die of embarrassment.
She pulled her coat closed tight and reapplied her lip gloss. Her stomach was a flutter of anxious nerves when she saw the figure exit the car. The shadowed effect of the headlights didn’t help her to figure out whether it was Mike or not.
“License and registration miss.”
She knew as soon as she heard him speak that is was Mike. Her heart raced and adrenaline pumped into her veins.
“Danie?” He shined the flashlight in her face. “What in the world are you doing out here speeding?”
She swallowed her nervous jitters and replied, “Trying to get your attention.” She allowed the top of her coat to fall open.
Mike’s flashlight beam fell onto her naked body…
